“Gandigiri” features main characters who are a couple in love, Yuvraj (played by Rishi Bhutani) and Disha (played by Dolly Chawla), and Bansi (Brijesh Karniwal) who is a scheming thief, and then their ring leader Bakait Singh (played by Sanjay Mishra).
Our thief is very goofy and definitely always has eyes for the ladies. Which, on many occasions gets him into a lot of trouble with their husbands.
It even includes, a fantastic guru. If only he is posing to be a guru and spiritual guide and isn’t that great either.
The band of criminals even includes a wise in his own eyes, know it all sidekick.
It really shows thieves that don’t know what they are doing and their haphazard situations they find themselves in.
Our film follows four criminals, who find themselves in jail as they attempt to rob a government car. But as luck has it, the car they rob owner is a Gandhigiri.
The term “Gandhigiri” in India shows forth the values of course of Gandhism. Which are the ideals of Mohandas Gandhi. “Gandhigiri” the namesake came into being after the 2006 Hindi Film “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” came out.
As a result of his lifestyle, Puri (played by the veteran actor Rai Saheb) of peace, truth, unity, and of course non-violence. Our Puri, even puts up the cash to get them out of jail. He enlightens and shows them a greater path of life instead of their current path of poor choices. He takes them under his wing even though they are just trying to put one over on him.
He really strives to change the world in his leadership position. Which is what any true leader should do.
Personally, Rai Saheb himself emphatically believes in the principles of Gandhi. His family even have close ties to being freedom fighters. Puri’s character ( Rai Saheb) crosses paths with four individuals. Who have made wrong decisions due to situations in their lives. This movie attempts to address the great efforts made by our vetern actor. Rai Saheb and Puri strive to show them and make them aware of Gandiji mantra and purpose in today’s world.
While all this is going on there is chaos in their town with inept government agents and showing how cast-based political affairs have taken over.
I don’t believe it properly showcases the value of the teachings for today but it attempts to humor in the midst to do so.
It really begs in some level for the viewer to examine themselves to see if Gandhiji’s values can operate in todays out of control world. Underlying, it ask these questions to see how they can lead a life of unity and peace in their daily walk of life.
