Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Diler Faces Production Hurdles as London Shoot Cancelled
In a surprising turn of events, Ibrahim Ali Khan’s upcoming sports drama, Diler, has encountered a setback in its production schedule. Originally planned to shoot a significant portion in the UK, the film’s London leg has been completely scrapped due to escalating unrest and anti-immigration protests in the country.
Director Kunal Deshmukh, the creative force behind Diler, had strategized a comprehensive shooting schedule in London after conducting a recce and look tests at the end of July. However, the unruly situation in the UK forced producer Dinesh Vijan to prioritize the safety of the cast and crew over the filming location.
A well-placed source revealed, “In July-end, the team did a recce and look tests in London. Kunal had set up a straight schedule for shooting significant portions of the film. But as the situation deteriorated, the makers deemed it too costly to ensure exhaustive security measures.”
With a paramount focus on the safety of the team, Dinesh Vijan has pivoted towards reshaping the shooting plan entirely. The production is now frantically scouting for suitable locations within India, with Mumbai emerging as the top contender. Filming is expected to kick off in the first week of September.
While the abrupt change in plans may pose a challenge for the film, it underscores the producer’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of his team. Diler, centered around the life of a marathoner, marks Ibrahim Ali Khan’s second venture in Bollywood following his debut in Sarzameen alongside Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
