Devara: Part 1 Movie Review

Star Cast: Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan

Director:

Koratala Siva

Movie Synopsis:

DEVARA – PART 1 follows the tale of a courageous sea warrior, Devara (Jr NTR), in the year 1984 near Ratnagiri, on the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border. Engaged in illegal smuggling activities with Bhaira (Saif Ali Khan), Devara’s lineage’s past struggles prompt them to resort to crime for survival. A confrontation with the Coast Guard unveils the dark truth behind their activities, leading Devara to take a stand against smuggling, despite internal dissent and betrayal.

Story Review:

Koratala Siva’s narrative excels in its first half, setting up an engaging conflict and showcasing Devara’s heroics effectively. However, the second half falters with predictable twists and a messy resolution, detracting from the film’s overall impact.

Movie Review: DEVARA - PART 1 suffers from a weak second half but makes up with a terrific first half

Performances:

Jr NTR shines in his portrayal of Devara, elevating the character with his powerful performance. Saif Ali Khan impresses with his menacing presence, while Janhvi Kapoor adds charm in her limited screen time. Supporting cast members deliver solid performances, enhancing the overall ensemble.

Music and Technical Aspects:

Anirudh Ravichander’s music, though disappointing, complements key moments in the film. Cinematography, production design, and costumes elevate the visual appeal, while editing could have been tighter in the second half.

Movie Review Conclusion:

MyAxom Reviews finds DEVARA – PART 1 to be a mixed bag, with a strong first half offset by a weaker second half. Despite its flaws, the film boasts impactful action sequences and Jr NTR’s compelling performance. With potential for growth in the Hindi markets, the movie faces a favorable box office trajectory until October 11.
