ADBHUT unfolds the narrative of a detective delving into a complex case. Aditya Rawat (Rohan Mehra), MD of Good Life Hospital, relocates to a tranquil hill station near Shimla with his wife Shruti Rawat (Shreya Dhanwanthary). Shruti battles depression and relies on medication. The eerie occurrences in their new mansion propel them to enlist the services of private investigator Gajraj Awasthi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Despite Gajraj’s efforts, the source of the mysterious events haunting their lives remains elusive. An incident at Good Life Hospital leads to a near-fatal encounter for Aditya and Shruti. Upon scrutinizing event footage, Gajraj identifies a suspicious woman named Mary Mathews (Diana Penty). As Gajraj pursues this enigmatic trail, he uncovers startling revelations, raising the stakes.

Sabbir Khan’s narrative, although solid, occasionally succumbs to clichés. The screenplay keeps viewers engaged, but some eerie moments may feel familiar. Sharp dialogues punctuate the storyline, although a few instances with Nawazuddin Siddiqui lack impact.
Sabbir Khan’s direction strikes a balance, transitioning from masala entertainers to a chilling thriller like ADBHUT. Notable sequences, such as Mary’s pursuit of Aditya and the church chaos, stand out. The tension escalates as objects defy gravity, crafting an unpredictable suspenseful atmosphere.
However, some fear-inducing scenes and Gajraj’s investigative choices falter, leaving unanswered questions. The lack of aftermath following a public supernatural occurrence diminishes the realism. The climax, though lacking in intense horror, offers a compensatory twist.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui delivers a commendable performance suited to the genre. Shreya Dhanwanthary portrays her character convincingly, though her presence is fleeting. In summary, ADBHUT proves to be a compelling horror watch, despite some drawbacks. Given its cast and strengths, opting for an initial OTT release would have enhanced its impact instead of its TV premiere.
