Emotional moments and Alia Bhatt shine in JIGRA.

MyAxom Reviews: Jigra Film Review {2.5/5} & Review Rating

Starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, the movie Jigra tells the story of a fearless sister named Satya. The orphans, Satya and Ankur, are taken care of by their distant relatives, the Mehtani family, after the death of their parents. The plot thickens when Ankur and Mehtani’s son Kabir get arrested in the country of Hanshi Dao for drug possession, leading to a death sentence for Ankur. Satya embarks on a journey to rescue her brother with the help of ex-gangster Shekhar Bhatia and ex-cop Muthu.

Plot and Story Review

The story by Debashish Irengbam and Vasan Bala shows potential, with engaging screenplay and realistic dialogues. Vasan Bala’s direction shines in executing impactful scenes like the climax, portraying Satya’s determination. However, the second half falters with a somewhat weak execution that diminishes the impact and realism established earlier in the film.

Performance Review

In terms of performances, Alia Bhatt delivers a standout portrayal of Satya, showcasing her versatility and emotional depth. Vedang Raina impresses with a promising performance, while Manoj Pahwa adds a touch of humor to the serious narrative. The supporting cast, including Rahul Ravindran and Ankur Khanna, also contribute effectively to the film’s overall performance.

Music and Technical Aspects

Achint Thakkar’s music, including tracks like ‘Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka’ and ‘Pan India Area King,’ adds depth to the film’s narrative. The cinematography by Swapnil S Sonawane and production design by Mukund Gupta contribute to the visual appeal of the movie. However, the editing by Prerna Saigal could have been more seamless to enhance the overall viewing experience.

Conclusion

MyAxom Reviews concludes that Jigra rests on emotional moments and Alia Bhatt’s stellar performance. However, the film’s weak second half and the mismatch between content and execution may hamper its impact. Despite this, the movie is likely to struggle at the box office.
