Kangana Ranaut Receives Death Threats for Upcoming Film ‘Emergency’
In a recent turn of events, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has once again stirred controversy surrounding her upcoming film, Emergency. As the release date approaches, Ranaut has reported receiving death threats, prompting her to seek assistance from law enforcement agencies in Maharashtra, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.
Kangana Ranaut Faces Criticism Over ‘Emergency’
As the lead actress and director of Emergency, Kangana Ranaut is facing severe backlash, particularly from members of the Sikh community. The film, depicting India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the 1975 Emergency, has drawn criticism for allegedly portraying Sikhs in a negative light. Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has called for a ban on the film, citing misrepresentation and perpetuation of harmful stereotypes.
Dhami’s objections have been fueled by concerns over Ranaut’s previous comments, deemed anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab, which have further fueled the opposition against Emergency.
Online Death Threats Target Kangana Ranaut
The situation took a sinister turn when a video featuring Punjabi influencer Viky Thomas Singh surfaced on social media. In the video, Singh issued a chilling threat to Kangana Ranaut, invoking historical figures associated with violence. His words, “Agar hum sar katwa sakte hai toh sar kaat bhi sakte hai,” (If we can sacrifice our heads, we can also take heads), sparked widespread alarm.
Another individual in the video warned of potential violence against Ranaut upon the film’s release, not only from Sikhs but from individuals of various faiths. The video quickly went viral, eliciting a strong public reaction and raising serious concerns for Ranaut’s safety.
Kangana Ranaut Appeals for Police Protection
In light of the threats, Kangana Ranaut took to social media to plead for police intervention. She reached out to the official accounts of the Maharashtra, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh police, urging them to investigate the matter and ensure her safety. “Please look into this,” Ranaut implored.
